~A home without boundaries~ Life-2022

5 natural landscapes reimagined

Go where you feel most alive they say...

An ode to the places we escape into, we brought them into our home and transformed our walls to reflect the landscape of this planet in this series reflecting the state of mind recovering from covid times ‘Life~2022’.

Concept

The harsh realities of the walls in our homes were pushed to the surface during COVID-19. What was once invisible became undeniable: our homes, meant to protect us, were also keeping us apart.

My work on human and nature interactions in modern living became the very essence of what we were missing. The walls that promised safety revealed how drastically they separated us from nature — and how restricting and disconnected they made us feel, not only from the world outside but also from ourselves and each other within them.

Why did homes — spaces meant to nurture, protect, and help us grow — turn into places we longed to escape?

'When did our sanctuaries become confinements?'

Process, Materials, Craft

This work is a confluence of nature’s art, traditional craftsmanship, and my reimagination of landscapes. It began with a hike — absorbing views, gathering fragments of wood, leaves, roots, and stones that felt like nature’s own art.

Each landscape takes shape with handwoven baskets and handicrafts of bamboo, cane, and wood — age-old crafts reimagined as canvases. The collection draws from traditional bamboo, cane, and wooden handicrafts made by artisan clusters in rural India. Natural woods, dry branches, leaves, roots, and stones are restored and repurposed, retaining their raw textures, and layered into the works to carry the essence of nature into modern walls.

Every piece becomes a dialogue between poetry and object-based art, bringing together craft, literature, and contemporary design.

Home~ a poem to ponder

A home makes space for its people to bloom,

Or do people behave for a home to create?

Home for you or you for home,

Don’t touch the wall,

Don’t you dare scribble or fall.

My home is where I’m nurtured I assume,

Or does my home reflect somebody else’s school?

The walls melt into ambitions and desires,

Or are they a challenge to scale, hiding my fire?

Does love flow freely here?

Showing the way to fulfil my desire.

Is a home a safe space to be me?

Or is it a prison I’m waiting to break free?

Homes without boundaries

Art that brings in outdoor elements and makes the walls fluid, blends into the natural landscape, blurs the boundaries and it transforms into one world without boundaries- a home without boundaries.

‘Life~2022’ -A collection welcoming you to create this natural space in your home, in your city, on this planet, in this world.

That branch you found, the shells you picked up, the feathers that flew in, the leaves you saved, the pebble you held is your route to nature, to life.

Artist's note:

On a personal note, I did not fully understand where this collection took root. It grew quietly during that stillness, from the human longing for air, openness, and belonging. Only later did I recognise it as a response — not only to confinement, but to the forgotten truth that our progress must remain rooted in nature.
